YOUTH BUSINESS PLAN DEVELOPMENT

Youth Business Sri Lanka (YBSL) has trained the upcoming young entrepreneurs in entrepreneurship, mentoring and business plan development in Vavuniya district. The training workshop is arranged by YBSL - Vavuniya team on 13th and 14th of November 2013 at Hotel Vanni Inn in order to build soft skills of the youth. The programme is supported by British Asia Trust (BAT) and Accenture covering the two important elements entrepreneurship skills and mentoring assistance.  Selected entrepreneurs will be financially supported by BAT programme to start and expand their ventures. YBSL have been actively involved in the process of supporting prospective young entrepreneurs by providing relevant training, one on one mentoring and financial support. 85% of trained young entrepreneurs are female who are involved in different SME ventures.

BEST ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR WINNER MEETS GOVERNOR – 06 NOVEMBER 2013

Prinson Thuraiaiya won the Best Entrepreneur of the Year runners-up award at the Young Entrepreneur Awards 2013, hosted by Youth Business International (YBI) Global Summit held in London recently. He is a beneficiary of Youth Business Sri Lanka (YBSL) implemented by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

He met Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri at his office in Jaffna on 06th November 2013 and shared his feeling of success with Governor. Governor wished him for his success and wanted him to achieve more and more in future too. Governor also assured that Northern Province will provide necessary support for his entrepreneurship.

TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS OF AMPARA

YBSL Ampara has organized a two days training workshop for young entrepreneurs and mentors on 29th and 30th October 2013 at auditorium of Ampara District Chamber of Commerce and industry (AMDCCI) in Ampara. This programme has been assisted and funded by British Asia Trust (BAT), Accenture and Youth Business International in order to build the capacity of young entrepreneurs of Ampara district.

Beneficiaries went through International standard trainings of YBSL on How to start a business?  How to develop a business plan? How mentors can support entrepreneurs. As second stage of the programme the successful beneficiaries will be financially supported to start and expand their business. 



25 YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS WERE ABLE TO START AND EXPAND THEIR VENTURE IN JAFFNA

Youth Business Sri Lanka (YBSL) implemented by Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with the partnership of Standard Charted Bank programme has been implemented in Jaffna by Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY). The success of the earlier batch motivated the SCB to extend more loans to Jaffna where new 25 young entrepreneurs were able to receive credit support from Standard Charted Bank to start and expand their business. The ceremony was held on 24th October 2013 at the CCIY auditorium in Jaffna. Mr. Harin Malwatte - CEO of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Sanjeewani Ranasinghe De Silva – Head of Corporate Affairs of Standard Charted Bank, Mr. Sivanandan – Country Head of Audit of Standard Charted Bank and Mr. Pooranachandran – Chairman of CCIY awarded the loans to the 25 selected young entrepreneurs.
